What am I passionate about? Well, you are at my LinkedIn Summary so I suppose you are in the right place to find out. I’m passionate about improving my community. One of the ways I work towards this is in my capacity as Lead Employment Consultant at Vadis Team 6. In this role I wear a variety of hats, often at the same time. I work to project manage the hiring element of the Seattle Children’s Project SEARCH Team where we find jobs for students with intellectual disabilities. I work with my team to coordinate job development, develop marketing strategies, employ dynamic problem solving, work with Government agencies to provide funding and relevant assistance and compliance, administer assessments, support interviews, build technological assistance, and do everything else that students with disabilities need in order to be successful in competitive employment.Something I am most proud of is using pioneering adaptive tablet applications to support my participants. I worked with the designers of MeMinder to tailor their app to the specific needs of my client in order to make him successful and independent at his job, saving Vadis, the Department of Vocational Rehabilitation, and taxpayers thousands of dollars a year. I hope to continue this work by driving technological innovation in my industry. In addition to my work at Vadis, I also Produce, Direct, Design, Write, and Perform in various comedic productions and films around Seattle. This is another way I get to improve my community, by producing live performances and humor. I do this by working with my Sketch Comedy Group “Maple Daddies” to perform shows around the Northwest. I have also worked with the Improv Troupe “Big Cult”, and Scenic and Prop Designed for Gregory Award winning productions with Reboot and Annex Theater. My biggest success in this area would have to be producing a benefit show for New Beginnings- a charity that empowers survivors of domestic violence. Sourcing materials for a silent auction, coordinating 3 other performing groups, marketing the show, as well as writing and performing new material for the show was a test to be sure, but it paid off for New Beginnings because we were able to raise over $700 for the charity.I am always looking to learn new things, be a better person, and improve. Whether that be learning project management skills at Vadis, or learning to use editing software for my comedy pursuits, I am constantly learning and hope to continue that into the future.
