Designed and analyzed a data set to model the attributable cost of Ventilator Associated Events in the intensive care setting at the UVA Medical Center; Shadowed the implementation of Lean-Six Sigma methodologies to improve clinical outcomes for patients and staff by reducing operational variation, waste, hospital acquired conditions, and team member injuries

Created a patient insurance classification database used to identify Medicare and Medicaid recipients from the electronic medical record; aided the execution of the health system’s Shared Savings Program with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services; Performed a review of Cornerstone Health Care’s patient population to find quality targets not satisfied based off of performance requirements agreed upon between Cornerstone Health Care and multiple insurance companies

Updated the ACTION database monthly within the National Cardiovascular Data Registry; recorded 400+ quality metrics per patient measuring acute heart attack treatment performance; extracted data from the electronic medical record for an estimated 200 patients; Analyzed deficiencies in patient care in order to propose changes in cardiovascular clinical practice; Contributed to the University of Virginia Medical Center earning a Platinum Performance Achievement Award for using the ACTION database to implement the most recent treatment guidelines into clinical practice
