I believe in doing things differently and, therefore, developed a strategy to modernize an industry that has remained relatively stagnant. Insurance has historically focused on policy and coverage. My approach is a hands-on, strategic, resource-driven partnership, not just a provider of a policy. When we form partnerships with our clients, we can better understand their orientation and better control their insurance/risk narrative. To do this, I workshop with each client to learn their needs and create a customized plan. Based on those needs and risk areas, we surround our clients with vetted resources to influence their behavior, culture, operations; thus, we can better control the effectiveness of their insurance program. These resources consist of onsite safety training, culture initiatives, accountability, customized training/onboarding software, risk transfer, employment law, and exclusive relationships with physical therapists and wellness experts. To implement this new strategy, I enhanced our client retention program at The Starr Group. This involved the creation of two new positions, a submission expert and resource manager, which support client retention and growth. We are changing the way insurance is done and how it is viewed.While most sales individuals are focused simply on closing the sale, I focus on empathy; I put myself in the shoes of my clients and feel connected to the success of their company. The pandemic was a great opportunity to demonstrate my commitment to customer service and prioritization of client relationships. I ensured I was available and able to provide resources. While I didn’t exactly know how to navigate this new experience, I knew there were ways to support our clients and guide them. I spent my time identifying resources to benefit them which included helping them access loans, create cash flow opportunities, and sustain their business when everything was in question. I continue to focus on education and remain a student of the industry.I feel I have only scratched the surface of what I’m capable of as an individual, for The Starr Group, and for the industry. Word of mouth from my satisfied clients has led to substantial growth of my business and my reputation. We continue to challenge industry expectations with thoughtful services and impassioned team members.
