After graduating in 1994 with a degree in Engineering Acoustics and Vibration from Southampton University, I spent 6 years with Spectrum Acoustic Consultants as an Acoustic Engineering Consultant where I was involved on a wide variety of projects covering building acoustics, environmental noise, occupational noise and acoustic design. I then worked for Sound Research Laboratories (SRL) as a Senior Engineer, 2 years of which were spent managing their London office. In 2004 I joined Sandy Brown Associates as a Senior Engineer and was involved in detailed acoustic design of specialist and unusual buildings. I returned to Spectrum in 2006 and was made a Principal Consultant in 2013. In 2017 my Principal Consultant role at Spectrum continued, but as well as completing project work I led our Architectural and Building Acoustics sector work and had wider involvement in running the business. I was made Associate Director in 2023 and in July 2023 joined the board as a Director when Spectrum became Employee Owned.I continue to complete technical acoustic work. I routinely manage the acoustic design, right through to final commissioning of a wide range of public and private sector buildings, industrial sites and infrastructure schemes. I conduct planning work, outline and detailed design, the award of BREEAM credits, onsite assistance and final commissioning. I have assisted clients in resolving acoustic matters in planning applications and statutory nuisance investigations, and have provided expert evidence, including environmental noise issues, appearing as an expert witness at public enquiries and in court in complex schemes.
