I was privileged to work in a unique public facing role as an Emergency Services Call taker and Dispatcher providing assistance to multiple emergency services organisations. These roles were varied in nature and provided a vital contribution to the wider Victorian community. The key elements of these roles were to provide timely and expert advice to the public during their time of need by processing emergency information and arranging for emergency service resource allocation.During FY 2018/19, ESTA answered 2,605,574 calls for assistance or a call every 12 seconds, more than 7,100 a day. The total number of events dispatched to emergency services averaged more than 6,100 each day.
