Largely engaged on large value, complex projects for the Local Authority which often involves working in partnership with other Local Authorities and Private Sector Partners. Large Projects: Legal Adviser Bournemouth & Poole BSF Programme.The Programme was part of the Building Schools for the Future Programme and was an opportunity for both Councils to gain substantial investment for the secondary school estate (buildings and ICT) in both Boroughs. My role involved;• liaising with government departments and advising both Bournemouth and Poole Councils (Officers, the Executive team and Members) as to the legal aspects of the Programme, in particular, to the legal aspects of procurement and joint working; • drafting complex commercial documents in accordance with central government requirements;• producing written reports to both Councils, setting out legal risk for each Council. As both Councils have ‘Plain English’ policies, complex legal advice had to be written in a way that was easy for a range of people to understand.Legal Adviser Bournemouth & Dorset Material Recycling FacilityA joint procurement for a contractor to design, build and manage a Material Recycling Facility for the benefit of the Bournemouth, Poole and Dorset Conurbation. My role involved;• advising on procurement routes and drafting procurement documentation;• drafting commercial agreements;• producing written reports to both Councils;• advising on governance and risk management;• advising on tax implications of joint working.Other MattersAdvising client departments in regard to:• commercial matters, in particular TUPE and Pensions implications on out-sourcing often involving producing innovative solutions• commercial aspects of procurement and all commercial contractual matters including negotiation and dispute resolution;• lead legal adviser for all academy conversions in the Bournemouth area.

Responsibilities: • assess and manage legal risk; • provide legal support and advice on commercial and Intellectual Property matters to SBU’s/SSU’s; • provide legal advice on corporate, commercial and IP issues relating to the Barclays Group Brands and supporting Commercial and IP aspects of Group transactions.Achievements:• initiated the integration and consolidation of the Groups trademarks• implemented a centralised database for the Groups trademarks to ensure continued protection in relevant jurisdictions;• initiated policies for the protection and recovery of the Groups domain names;• successfully recovered domain names held by unauthorised third parties.
