As Head of Education for Highland Council, I had a wide and varied range of responsibilities. As well as handling 204 schools and ELCs/partner providers, I led the Change Team which comprised of several existing primary and secondary Headteachers, seconded to influence change management. This had been a move to support a considerable improvement agenda and work in collaboration with the existing quality improvement team. The initial aspect was to get to know the team and their strengths in order to take on and achieve a considerable agenda for change and improvement. This was also undertaken in conjunction with leading and managing operational Area Managers who formed education and health care; an area which was also uncoupled as part of the transformational change programme.
