I have over 20 years of experience in engaging with startups and diverse stakeholders to drive sustainability initiatives and progress on ESG. Research to explore patterns of financing innovation in emerging industries. Having studied firms operating in the emerging industry of cleantech, the importance of framing industry in terms of its dynamics couldn't be more relevant for this project. As ever the age old question of whether there is a funding gap, or 'valley of death' has been raised. However perhaps more interesting is understanding the boundaries of different types of innovation financing and their relevance across different industrial contexts. Financing is critical to moving innovation from lab to market, but we'd like to understand its role on an industrial level.
I joined Trinamo to be the catalyst for their new Greentech Practice. My PhD identified a need for sales and organisational excellence in greentech companies, which is a good fit with Trinamo. Trinamo has an excellent track record in these areas. Trinamo recently changed hands and business model so I decided to disengage from a permanent position though we still work together on an ad hoc basis.
The goal was to improve the quality and quantity of environmental technology and ICT start-ups in Europe. The aim was to match market needs to product solutions, to provide appropriate tools for business support, to design accreditation to filter appropriate ventures towards funding, to develop innovative funding structures with the EIF.
