+20 years experience in construction & consultancyI've focused my career on the parts of the construction industry that I'm passionate about: that's the whole technical side. I see each project as a puzzle that needs to be solved in the fewest possible steps, so that's what keeps it interesting for me.Fire Safety- I love the complicated stuff- the complete messes- I'm all about challenges - I love to find the most cost-effective and easy to build solutions. Recently finished studying BIM and LEAN Construction - Level 9 NFQ in SligoIT.At MSA I work on exciting new schemes all over the city- I love to catch the project at an early stage - Creating a fully compliant Part B (Fire) and M (Access) design before building the basement always makes life so much easier!I became a Disability Access Consultant when DAC's were introduced. I was always involved, but it was just another regulation before the DAC's came in, and now through seminars and meeting people with disabilities, I've become very sympathetic to users needs and can advise architects from a functional perspective when I'm solving problems. Again, it's great to catch projects early, but retrofit and upgrade works form a huge number of the projects too, especially in such an old city like Dublin - so I'm always on the look out for new technologies.I have a lot of experience in Designing from scratch, Planning Applications, Mapping, Tendering, Producing full Construction drawings, Contracting, Working on Site and Completion from my early career in Architectural Technology. I've never taken a break from the industry, starting part-time in 2000 during my studies, and beginning my full-time career in 2003 in a top-class Dublin practice.I play a major B.CAR role in projects on site.I'm qualified to act as PSDP (CIF course & IOSH approved) and can advise building owners of their roles and do all the paperwork and risk assessments associated with safety and health in construction. HSA guidelines and forms etc. Guest lecturer in TU Dublin 2017-2024 (Fire Safety / Part M Accessibility). I have a keen interest in keeping up to date and researching new regulations.
