    Octopia is a B2B operator offering retail customers 3 levels of service to foster their marketplace operations. 1) the marketplace platform and technology 2) vendors and their products 3) fulfillment operations. It is a spin off coming from Cdiscount, one of the top French multi-categories marketplace.Within this context, my role is to bring the best product data to these customers. My team of 5+ people has 2 main missions. One is to set, manage and maintain a product taxonomy which is the backbone used by vendors to fill product data. The other is using data analysis to catalyze our operations around product data enrichment and data quality.We face multiple challenges with product data:- scalability and rationalization of our operations: we handle +100M products on thousands of different categories and we know we do less but better. Final customers need higher data quality in general to make a purchase. We level up on a core offer.- product categorization: which is one pivot point of product data as it has impacts on attributes to fill, where it is displayed on websites' navigation, consumer legal texts that apply or also marketplace commission rates etc.- GTINs or Brand veracity: essential information to identify a product. Barcodes administrated by GS1 are essential on the retail space to enable product identification whereas we talk with vendors, our warehouses or product data enrichment solutions. Everyone uses the barcode. It's a crucial identifier which can ease all operations for final customer satisfactionTo answer that, I reinforced our use of - data analysis through Snowflake- we built strategic dashboards on PowerBI to monitor our KPIs- Python scripts to automate operations- exchanges and support to Data Science teams to build the best-in-class NLP algorithms - and finally bring our retail knowledge to reach on top of technology the best possible product data quality

Alkemics data model is a mix of product categories and fields to seize data. Each product category would be link to a specific form. For example, the platform would ask customers to fill alcohol ratio or vineyard region or vintage years only for "Wine" products. Those fields would disappear for "Chicken meat" category because non-relevant.Together with the team we have opened two verticals "Parapharmacy" and "Beauty & Cosmetics". This move helped Alkemics conquer new markets and win more major RFPs.I also had a role as Alkemics representative at GS1 GDSN workshops (product data standards). I have accompanied clients to build Change Requests within the standards. At the time, as most of our clients were e-commerce business units, we made the eco-system evolve towards digital and e-commerce needs. I have taken part to quarterly GS1 Infos Produits French main Food retail workshop, numerous GS1 Beauty & Cosmetics France, 2-3 workshops for GS1 Textile Standards France and the GS1 International Summit in Dublin in September 2018.ManagementPart of the role was also to manage and re-build the data model team. At the end, together with 2 analysts we were able to manage multiple clients (around 10 major clients of the retail eco-system), implement 3-4 projects at the same time and support sales teams in their sales long-run processes responding to multiple RFPs.This management role meant taking the decisions on the data model architecture, following up and delegating to both analysts, as well as coaching them to achieve their personal goals within the company.
