Volunteering at Maya Universe Academy, a school providing high-quality education to children in rural Nepal. Worked on site on a school extension with volunteers and local builders, pouring concrete and bricklaying. Organised a civil engineering workshop for students and built a suspension bridge. Tutored science class students.

• A site based six-week summer placement working on the extension of Leicester Royal Infirmary Brachytherapy treatment unit. The project consists of a building with a concrete bunker to treat patients using.
• Setting out of the concrete piles and the ground floor beams of the building using a total station
• Carried out level surveys during the excavation and drainage works
• Attended weekly Design meetings with the project manager and regular client meetings
• Undertook site surveillance and gave site induction to subcontractors
• Involved in some quantity take-offs and volume calculations, as well as safety calculations including ground bearing capacity and reinforcement checks

• Six-week internship where I gained experience working on construction sites with a foreman and five labourers setting out, building and maintaining roads and motorways:
• Helped with physical work on site, order sheets and bills of quantities
• Large projects including the maintenance of the A51 motorway
