I am responsible for producing online tidbits of travel destination information, taking content that appeared in print editions of the magazine and publishing it on the magazine's web site. I sometimes write and always edit the listings. (The example given is one I wrote.) I am also responsible for quality control, monitoring listings to make sure all the information is current.

I write non-fiction, specializing in travel writing. I've been published in the Christian Science Monitor and the San Francisco Chronicle, on GirlsThatRoam.com, on the Travelocity.com web site, and in the Traveler's Tales anthology "Best Women's Travel Writing 2007." Content of mine has also appeared on the Sunset Magazine web site.

Worked with Information Architects and Designers to write user-interface copy for Walmart.com online Pharmacy redesign project.

I was a writer and editor in the Travelocity.com Marketing Department. This mostly involved writing promotional emails and web pages. I also did some technical writing, coming up with navigational, help, and FAQ text to help users get around the site. My favorite part was visiting new places and writing travel articles. This only happened once in a blue moon, though, which is why I now freelance.

I remember a fair amount of go-fering. I never need to see another photocopier as long as I live. But I did a lot of copyediting, too. Highpoint: I edited a book written by the musician Thomas Dolby (which sadly never got published, due to massive layoffs of which I was a part).

I started as an editorial intern, and ended up doing quite a bit of writing in addition to the usual intern dues-paying duties. I was informally apprenticed to the copy editor, which I really enjoyed and which turned out to be great professional experience.
