Graduate Assistant for the Center for Pre-Collegiate and Academic Outreach- Develop and implement parent workshops for pre-collegiate parents and guardians.- Develop and implement student retreats and workshops to enhance social skills, educational skills, and professional skills. - Serve as a liaison between student workers and professional staff. Hippotherapy: is a physical, occupational, and speech-language therapy treatment strategy that utilizes equine movement as part of an integrated intervention program to achieve functional outcomes.Sidewalker:The volunteers in charge of walking alongside a client and instrumental in assisting the therapists with maximizing the treatment session through use of proper guarding techniques, client positioning and assist with safety management.Equine movement provides multidimensional movement, which is variable, rhythmic and repetitive. The horse provides a dynamic base of support, making it an excellent tool for increasing trunk strength and control, balance, building overall postural strength and endurance, addressing weight bearing, and. motor planning. Equine movement offers well-modulated sensory input to vestibular, proprioceptive, tactile and visual channels. During gait transitions, the patient must perform subtle adjustments in the trunk to maintain a stable position. When a patient is sitting forward astride the horse, the horse’s walking gait imparts movement responses remarkably similar to normal human gait. The effects of equine movement on postural control, sensory systems, and motor planning can be used to facilitate coordination and timing, grading of responses, respiratory control, sensory integration skills and attentional skills. Equine movement can be used to facilitate the neurophysiologic systems that support all of our functional daily living skills.

The Resident Assistant (RA) position focuses on enhancing the quality of life in the residence halls, including fostering community, providing academic support, and being attentive to safety and security of residents. The position requires an individual who is flexible enough to assume a variety of roles as dictated by the changing needs of students. It is crucial that an individual be able to relate well to others and handle administrative responsibilities. The RA is more than just a friendly presence; she/he is the crucial link in creating an environment in which students develop independence and learn to live cooperatively with others.

I worked with children ages 4-5 years old teaching social interaction and conflict solutions. I provided a positive and supporting environment for children in order to assist with their intellectual and creative development. I assisted with symptom management for children with behavioral disorders such as ADD, ADHD and autism.
