About Nicole Pinto

A highly motivated and enthusiastic award-winning individual, who is eager to learn and grow from the various opportunities that are bestowed upon me. I completed a Master of Arts in Disaster and Emergency Management, and also have a background in Health Policy. I have a keen interest in business continuity, municipal and health emergency management and public health. Currently, I am the Program Manager (A) for the Ontario Emergency Medical Assistance Team (EMAT) and serving as the Ontario Disaster and Emergency Manager Conference Planning Committee Chair. My prior experience includes being a long-standing member of the Ontario Association of Emergency Managers Board of Directors.My passion for community safety and organizational resilience has helped me garner relationships with stakeholders at the municipal, provincial and federal levels, as well as the private sector. Within my various roles, I have also fostered relationships with community groups, non-governmental organizations and post-secondary institutions across the province of Ontario.

    The Ontario Emergency Medical Assistance Team (EMAT) is the provincial disaster response and medical surge team, operated by the Sunnybrook Centre for Prehospital Medicine, that can be deployed by the Ministry of Health (MOH) in support of communities in Ontario within 24 hours of notice. EMAT is modular and scalable, and is medically self-sustainable for 72 hours, with the capacity to provide ongoing care and medical treatment.The role of the EMAT Program Manager (A) is to ensure the day to day operations, inclusive of, but not limited to, budget reviews/finances, report writing, and strategic planning. The PM also ensures that the 160 member team's training requirements are met and acts as a liaison between the team and MOH.
