About Nicole Talbot

I am an attorney and international criminal justice reform expert with over 20 years of experience. I focus on justice sector reform, counter-terrorism and countering violent extremism training and awareness, rule of law initiatives and overall stabilization programing in conflict and post-conflict environments. I have managed complex initiatives in post-conflict zones in Iraq, Afghanistan, Somaliland and Niger on behalf of the U.S. and UK governments. I strive to create stronger links between the traditional/customary justice sector and the formal/government sector and developed programs to increase the access to justice by the populace, especially women and minority ethnic groups. I have conducted training and trainer-of-trainer programs for police, prosecutors and judges on issues from due process and human rights to evidence-based case building. I have awarded and overseen grants to local civil society organizations implementing projects to promote sustainability, and spearheaded campaigns to promote the role of women in the justice sector as a means of fostering equality and stability and an overall more just and peaceful society.
