Growing up in downtown San Jose, I've had the experiences of my childhood that led to my passion for political involvement and social equity. Little things like how my sidewalks were cracked compared to the cleaner, whiter areas of the city were extremely apparent; the large pressure to be silent due to the model minority myth was an everyday part of life. At the age of 14, I applied for an internship under the San Jose Youth Commission under the City of San Jose and took part in the District 3 Youth Advisory Council. Since then, I've become an appointed official, the chairperson of a city advisory board, and started a partnership with the San Jose Public Library to initiate a survey that received over 1,000 responses. I passed my first bill officially in April of 2021 for youth rights and cannot wait to see where public service will take me next.
