In January 2022 I joined Southern Butler Price LLP's team of neutral third-party investigators, mediators and arbitrators, following a 38-year career practicing law both as in-house counsel and in private practice. I am also a member of the Law Society of BC's Tribunal and a member of the Associate Civil Roster of Mediate BC. My experience includes nearly 14 years as in-house counsel with Canada’s largest diversified mining company, where I also had business & human resources training, and responsibility at a senior management level. After returning to private practice, I acted for public sector clients in health, transportation, higher education, and municipal government, and private sector clients engaged in mining, forestry, manufacturing, construction, food production, retail, and not-for-profit organizations. I have also had many years of experience sitting on or advising boards where I have had direct involvement in challenging matters relating to corporate governance, board and senior leadership renewal, and fiduciary obligations of officers and directors. Most recently, I spent the last 12 years with a national law firm where I was a member and first chair of its Inclusion & Diversity Committee, and held various leadership roles, including managing partner of its Vancouver office and member of its National Executive Committee. As a result of this experience I was recognized by The Best Lawyers in Canada in corporate governance from 2016 to 2022.Over the years I have developed and honed my ability to look at issues strategically, and to work collaboratively with diverse individuals and groups to help them resolve complex issues and disputes. I care deeply about issues related to diversity & inclusiveness, and the advancement of women in leadership positions.
