As a research associate at UT's Texas Advanced Computing Center, I design and implement culturally responsive evaluations of STEM education programs to inform program development and to assess outcomes and impacts. I develop evaluation plans, logic models, and data collection measures; manage data collection and analysis of qualitative and quantitative data; write and disseminate reports to help stakeholders understand the outcomes and impacts of programs; and work collaboratively with stakeholders to ensure evaluations meet program needs. I've lead evaluations of eight multi-year, federally-funded (e.g., NSF, NASA) STEM education programs to broaden participation of historically excluded groups, and evaluations of five smaller programs supporting internships and computer science professional learning for teachers. I also lead data collection and analysis for a national field test of high school science curricula and provide technical assistance to 15 states on continuous improvement and using data for equitable impact to inform efforts to modernize statewide math course-taking pathways.Additionally, I conduct research on broadening student participation computer science education and teacher retention and motivation, and I publish and disseminate those research findings. I mentor and manage graduate student research assistants in both evaluation and research. I am also heavily involved in developing partnerships with local and national networks to advance goals of supporting teachers and broadening participation in STEM.

As co-leader and board member for the Greater Austin STEM Ecosystem I direct strategic planning and organize networking events to foster collaboration and communication across the local STEM education community.

Explored issues of equity, bias, and structural racism in computing and computing education through professional learning cohort with computer science educators and professional from across the US.Applied learnings from fellowship to manage team of computer science educators and curriculum writers to redesign nationally scalable professional learning course for K-12 computer science teachers focused on creating inclusive and culturally responsive learning environments for all students.

Provided data collection and analysis expertise for Texas Education Agency's pilot of English/Language Arts Open Education Resources. Developed data collection and management plan, revised weekly feedback surveys and professional learning surveys, created teacher focus group protocols, provided survey and focus group supplements to address COVID-19 impacts. Supported TEA project leads to think critically about scale of OER pilot data collection, management, and analysis.

I designed and led free workouts for 100+ people of all ages and fitness levels, cultivating community and connection through free fitness. I was in charge of organizing our weekly Wednesday and Friday morning workouts, managing social media and advertising, planning social and outreach events, and developing and maintaining community relationships. Through this work, I helped create a welcoming, inclusive environment centered on accountability and positivity for people to achieve their fitness goals and build community.

My research investigated how teachers support students to understand and engage in science as practice. As a member of the Interactive Learning and Design Lab, I developed instructional material; designed and lead teacher professional learning for middle school science teachers; developed assessments; and oversaw data collection, management and analysis multiple NSF funded projects. Instructional material development: Designed and developed middle school life sciences and physics curricula (student and teacher materials) to build scientific literacy and practices by teaching science in the context of solving real-world 21st century problems. Worked closely with teachers to revise curricula through cycles of design-based research.Teacher professional learning and development: Led design and implementation professional develop workshops for teachers in the summer and provided ongoing professional development for teachers during the school year as they implemented curricula.Assessment development: Lead team to write science practices and biology content assessments. I prepared and taught a semester long course of Educational Psychology 301: Human Abilities and Learning for 150 undergraduate students. I designed exams and written assessments, orchestrated in-class discussions and activities to promote conversation and meaningful learning for students. I also mentored and managed a Teaching Assistant throughout the semester.

I was a teaching assistant for a 4-week, intensive summer school course on Education Psychology 301: Human Abilities and Learning. I was responsible for facilitating discussions and small group work during class, grading daily assignments and final papers, and aiding the instructor with class preparation. I prepared class materials and taught an interactive guest lecture.

As a teaching assistant for the undergraduate course Psychology 501: Cognitive Neuroscience, I was responsible for teaching three discussion sections per week; grading (assignments, exams, and final papers); managing attendance and participation; and aiding instructor with class preparation, course organization, and course design as this was the first time the course was offered. I also prepared materials and taught a guest lecture to the class of ~100 students.
