While at Hilco, I acquired my first experience of working in a factory setting. I was a machine operator of plastic injection molding presses. Although it was new to me, I took to it naturally, because of the type of worker that I am. I worked primarily on third shift, but because of my reliability, I was asked to assist on first and second shifts as well, when they were shorthanded. I also, from time to time, would be asked to fill it at one of Hilco’s other plants. Within a year of working for Hilco, I was asked to help implement a new employee training program created to streamline the training process of new temps. Two employees from each shift were selected to be trainers, of which I was one. I quickly became well known for the quality of my production, and I often assisted Quality Control with inspection of parts on hold. I left Hilco to continue my education at GRCC.

While working for Fettig, I accepted two temporary positions. At Nucraft, I was a part of a small team that was hired to compile, research, and update all contact lists for the company. We first analyzed the data, and eliminated duplicates, then researched for missing data, and finally reached out to each contact to verify if they desired to remain on the list to receive new product samples and to be notified of new product launches. At ETNA, I worked in the Human Resources department sorting and updating files, preparing new hire packets, entering data into employee files, preparing mail to be posted, and organizing financial file information.

I was responsible for handling large amounts of cash and other monetary instruments, accountability documentation, and customer service for both internal and external customers. I assisted supervisors and managers when needed, and strove to promote teamwork and positivity. I received numerous awards for perfect balancing. I was voted “Most Helpful Cashier” twice, and Employee of the Month twice (March of 2003 and February of 2013), and Employee of the Year for 2003. I left LRCR to move to the Grand Rapids area in the spring of 2014.

As a ramp agent, I was responsible for guiding the planes to the proper terminals, and making sure they were properly secured, assuring safety of crew and passengers. It was necessary to sort all luggage that came down to the carousel to the proper baggage cart, and to proficiently utilize ground equipment, including Tugs and belt loaders, to quickly load and unload baggage (while scanning for accuracy) to the baggage bin of the aircraft. We also cleaned the passenger area of the aircraft, in a timely manner to allow for quick turn over, and assisted Gate Agents with special requests and Unaccompanied Minors.

I worked for the Census Bureau on four separate operations (including Address Listing, Enumerating, and Quality Control) during 1998, 2000, and 2009. The Address Listing operation was done two years prior to the actual census. Its primary function was to physically canvas all assignment areas to create and update maps, and identify all possible living quarters where questionnaires will be delivered to for the census. As an Enumerator, it was my duty to go to each address and conduct an interview for each residence where no questionnaire was received. In the Quality Control phase, we used handheld GPS units to verify that all maps and data received from prior operations were accurate and up to date.

I assisted customers obtaining or renewing driver’s licenses, transferring titles, purchasing or renewing license plate tabs, updating voter registration and organ donor information, and a variety of other services. I had a near perfect balancing record and received excellent reviews.

As store manager, I was responsible for all aspects of operations, including but not limited to, employee hiring paperwork (ex. I-9s, W-4s, etc.), scheduling, training, supervising, and monitoring to ensure all requirements were met for health codes and corporate standards. I was also responsible for monitoring and maintaining inventory, and controlling food costs, as well as submitting daily and weekly sales reports. The projected food cost goal was 24%, and I regularly came in at 17-18%.

In addition to assisting customers with their banking transactions, I also helped with new accounts and customer service, maintained branch inventory of paperwork and brochures, ordered foreign currency for customers, assisted customers with entries to their safety deposit boxes, and was responsible for ATM balancing. I received several awards for sales, and performed well when called upon by “shoppers” in our secret shopper customer service review program.
