Nicole is currently Deputy Director at the Clean Energy Communities Fund and a Strategy Consultant for environmental and climate nonprofits. She serves as Advisory Board Chair for Climate Voice.Nicole was most recently the Executive Director of The Conservation Alliance (TCA) that leverages its business membership to fund and advocate for North America’s wild places and outdoor spaces. Through grantmaking and advocacy, TCA protects public lands for climate resiliency, biodiversity, equitable access, and outdoor recreation. Nicole spent the majority of her career establishing, building, and leading Climate Generation (formerly Will Steger Foundation), a climate education and advocacy organization founded by National Geographic polar explorer Will Steger. Under Nicole’s leadership, the organization transitioned from a founder start-up to a nationally recognized nonprofit exceeding $2 million in annual revenue, over 15 employees, and thousands of educators, communities and youth leaders engaged in equitable climate change solutions. Furthermore, Nicole established Climate Generation as one of the leading youth organizations in Minnesota and climate change education organizations nationally, earning recognition from the Obama White House, and presentations at the Global Climate Action Summit and United Nations climate conferences. While leading Climate Generation, Nicole was recognized by Energy News Network as a 40 Under 40 Clean Energy Leader and Women in Energy by the Minnesota Clean Energy Resource Teams. Earlier in her career, Nicole began in environmental education, implementing education programming in the Great Lakes for the National Wildlife Federation and serving as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Kazakhstan. She holds an MS in Natural Resource Policy and Behavior from the University of Michigan and a BA in Environmental Studies from Bates College.
