As a staff writer for The Suffolk Times and the Riverhead News-Review I wrote on average six articles per week, depending on the length of the articles. I took pictures to accompany my articles and accurately convey the story using both a DSLR camera and my iPhone. My articles ranged from covering spot and breaking news, like car accidents and fires, to health columns, real estate pieces, town and school board meetings, features on residents, court cases, political elections, restaurant openings and closings and more. I also took pictures for our Instagram accounts, including for our northforker Instagram. I also have written pieces for our lifestyle website, northforker.com, and its accompanying magazine. A year and a half into working at Times Review Media Group I was made the education reporter for both papers. Here I covered the seven school districts in our jurisdiction. This included attending school board meetings, localizing state and national education news, and writing features about both student and staff achievements. In August 2018 I began making videos for all three media outlets using a DSLR camera and Adobe Premiere. During my senior year I was promoted to News Editor. In this position I create the budget for the News section each week and assign articles to the staff writers at the weekly meetings. I also write up to three articles each week. As News Editor I am also in charge of laying out the 4 page News section every Wednesday night, which includes the responsibility of assigning pictures and graphics to accompany each article as well as creating headlines and captions. Each week I upload the News articles to our newspaper's Twitter and Facebook pages using Hootsuite. I also collaborate with the other editorial board members on articles, surveys, and investigative journalism pieces.

Over winter break I interned with Times/Review again. This time I expanded on my previous skills by attending school board meetings, assisting with the copy process on production day, attended press conferences and filed stories with photos on deadline.

I've worked here for six summers in the concessions department where I had to work with the register daily, interact with customers, and make and sell food. Two summers ago I was promoted to Supervisor. In this position I am trusted watch and instruct the employees in all the stands, rather than working in a single stand for a day. I also have to stock all stands with items from the warehouse, open and close all the stands at the start and end of the day, and put out the banks every morning.
