Dr. Nidal Sliman has more than 18 years of legal and policy experience. He earned his doctorate in international law summa cum laude, and has worked with international organizations, legislators, government officials, policymakers, human rights organizations and private sector institutions on a wide range of legal and policy issues. Dr. Sliman’s main areas of practice include international development, international law, land reform, international criminal and humanitarian law, transitional justice, human rights, rule of law, good governance, transparency practices, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act investigations, legislative drafting, international trade law, WTO accession, business-enabling environment (BEE) reforms, World Bank doing business indicators, comparative law, cultural heritage (UNESCO conventions), and legal research & analysis. The geographic locations of his work include the United States, the Middle East (Israel, Palestine, Yemen), North Africa (Morocco, Libya, Western Sahara, Sudan), and Southern Africa (Zimbabwe, South Africa). Dr. Sliman has worked on projects for the USAID, U.K.’s DfID, UNDP, and the World Bank, and gained extensive experience administering USAID-funded projects and grants, including designing and executing work plans and budgets, monitoring and evaluating the impact of project activities, supervising the work of field-office staff, short-term consultants, subcontractors and grantees, and at the same time liaising with home-office staff, and effectively communicating with counterparts and stakeholder, senior government officials, international donors, policymakers, private sector institutions and beneficiaries. Dr. Sliman is fluent in Arabic and Hebrew, has excellent oral and written communication skills, including in multicultural settings, across all government levels, and with international donors and the private sector. He also proven track record of successfully working independently and as a team member.
