The Asset Servicing Oversight team is charged with the oversight of Corporate Action and Income functions which are provided by third party service providers or internally delegated entities. Our function is to ensure that we consistently deliver high-quality data to our clients via the Investment Book of Record (IBOR), provide SME support to service providers and a focal point for clients during complex or high-risk issues and the last point of escalation for non-BAU client issues. After demonstrating an aptitude for problem-solving along with sustained high-performance standards, I was promoted to a managerial position within the same role in April 2015 and to Assistant Vice President in April 2017. I work closely with Business Change, IT and global operations teams to develop solutions for new clients and the ever-changing regulatory environment, most recently MiFID II. Supporting the IT team, I help to create spec definitions, testing, and roll-out of system upgrades and also cooperate with the project team to create, develop and implement corporate actions future state processes for new clients. I participate in the creation of corporate action specifics for SLA’s for both client and service providers and also play a key role in client, internal and corporate audits and follow-up actions.

The Corporate Actions Oversight team is charged with the oversight of Event Validation and Instruction Processing team as well as the Record Keeping team who process corporate action events for State Street clients.Having moved to the newly formed Corporate Actions Oversight team in 2012 I carried out a number of functions to support the creation of the new team and development of a new operating model including the creation of procedures and review of SLA documents.My primary function was to ensure the achievement of KPI’s: timeliness, accuracy, cash, and stock break resolution, maintaining and monitoring heat maps to identify areas of increased risk caused by operating model or procedural gaps, and to provide SME support to service providers and focal point for clients during complex or high-risk corporate actions and last point of escalation for non-BAU client issues. Through 2013 and 2014 I spent six weeks at our offshore service provider in India to establish the root cause of a number of service issues. As a result of the review, a new process flow was created along with a number of new controls which generated a significant improvement in service quality and consistent delivery of KPI targets. In addition, I collaborated with the offshore production teams to develop comprehensive SOP’s.

I analysed issuer, vendor and custodian data in respect of corporate events, to confirm entitlements were correctly reflected on clients’ records and established eligibility for events where restrictions applied and solicitation of Fund Manager decisions for voluntary events. I also confirmed prefunded cash accounts for events with associated exercise costs and ensured all cash and stock breaks were cleared on time.I liaised and collaborated with the front office on issues relating to the availability of corporate action entitlements and committed positions and created and maintained diary actions on a corporate tracking database, playing a key role in the smooth coordination and successful completion of all events.This role also incorporated Equity Trade Support for 3 months where I ensured all trades were confirmed and all custodian instructions were sent on trade date, diligently maintained static data relating to counterparty SSIs and addressed all post settlement queries and resolved all reconciliation issues swiftly and effectively to assure business continuity.

I also provided research facilities for large price movements and priced securities resulting from Corporate Actions.
