Launched as Australian Leisure Management in 1997, Australasian Leisure Management magazine and the www.ausleisure.com.au website are the only business media in the leisure industry in Australia, New Zealand and the Asia-Pacific region. Published bi-monthly since 1997, with news and features covering aquatics, attractions, entertainment, events, fitness, parks, recreation, sport, tourism and venues, the printed magazine has over 11,500 readers (with circulation increasing in the last year) while Google Analytics figures show that the website records more than four million impressions a month.

Asian Leisure Business, an online sister publication to the Australasian Leisure Management website, will be Asia’s first dedicated resource for leisure industry news and information, with massive readership potential for an audience from Sinai to Sapporo, Bali to Beijing.My role with Asian Leisure Business is in addition to what I do with Australasian Leisure Management.

Established The Leisure Manager (the bi-monthly magazine for the UK leisure industry) and the weekly The Leisure Manager Recruitment Bulletin, with responsibility for their advertising, editorial and financial success. At the end of 1993 I compiled and presented a business plan for the magazine, identified the technology for production, set advertising rates, tendered for printers, recruited staff , bought the paper (buying paper stocks for one years’ production avoided major rises in paper prices in 1994) through to producing the first issue of The Leisure Manager in April 1994. The magazine immediately established a reputation for its editorial and soon after became a circulation (audited), advertising and financial success (first year deficit $95k rather than the projected $160k - The Leisure Manager was profitable by April 1995).

ILAM, the association for the United Kingdom leisure industry, provided a range of services for organisations and professionals in the arts, heritage, play, recreation, sport and tourism. As Communications Manager, I was a member of the senior management group with responsibility for an advertising, communications, design and policy team.
