I am an accomplished legal practitioner, with a wealth of knowledge in pensions, trustee and governance fields. Having retired as head of pensions practice at a major City law firm in April 2017, I joined Ross Trustees as COO in September 2017. I have significant management experience (strategic, financial and people) at both firm and business unit level. I also have direct experience of acting as a trustee, as well as advising numerous trustee boards. Recommended by clients for my ability to “cut to the nub of the matter” and my provision of “pragmatic and sensible advice” (Chambers UK Guide 2016), whilst clients in the 2017 Guide praise "my big picture approach".I am currently managing a project to provide revised pensions offering to employees across three predecessor firms of CMS (CMS, Nabarro and Olswang). Managing this project includes selection of the new platform provider, devising the new default strategy, managing the process of transferring benefits from predecessor schemes and compliance with the auto enrollment requirements for the merged firms. I also act as the chair of governance committee for the new pension plan.I have been appointed by a national television company as an external trustee on its newly formed defined contribution plan. My key projects so far have been working on the communications strategy for the plan and selecting appropriate investment options for members of the plan. I am a lawyer and was a partner for more than 20 years at the City law firm CMS. While at CMS I led the pensions team building it up from a small single partner practice to become the top ranked practice for pensions and pensions litigation in both legal directories. Nigel is also the chairman of trustees of the Cameron McKenna final salary pension scheme.
