Impact and purpose have driven me since I turned away from the advertising industry (which I enjoyed, by the way). But for the past decade plus I’ve been applying my experience and drive to helping people and helping our home (Earth). In a path I didn’t expect this has led to me, a vegetarian, working with many cattle farmers and other less meaty food producers. It’s a fascinating space and exciting to be a part of building a sustainable and productive food system.

Communications And Engagement Manager - Change Team For Student Experience ProgramUniversity Of Sydney Jul 2019 - Feb 2020Sydney, AustraliaThe University of Sydney was implementing a wide ranging transition to achieve an outstanding student experience. As a member of the Change Team I was integral to the change process across all audiences in respect of change communications, but with a focus upon engaging our students. My strategies to bring students into the centre of change included co-developing workshops for discovery, ideation and co-design. I also built a core group of highly involved students to provide an ongoing sounding board and peer-channel for the program. In addition, managing overall student comms (working with the Marketing & Communications team) ensured that as improvements go live, our students and staff are kept informed of progress and provided with opportunities to feed back.Early achievements include:- Development of a trial “pop up” degree planning service to help new students receive guidance from experienced peers. I delivered this highly successful experience within three weeks of starting with the team. The key measure of success was eliminating any sense of not being comfortable with planning their degree selections from the 750 students visiting the pop up. This approach has now been adopted and adapted into a new business as usual offering for new students.- Scripting and producing (with an external supplier) a video explaining the complex work of the program, its achievements and its future deliverables and aspirational goals. This was achieved in a little over one week in response to an important internal communications opportunity.- Working across the program team to build a collaborative and coordinated way of working. -
