Nikhil Dhingra is working as a senior application engineer at Ansys to support Lumerical business in India/ASEAN. Prior to that he served as a consultant through his partnership firm Lanemap Photonics for about 1.5 years, where he worked on high speed plasmonic modulators.He has a Ph.D. degree in Electronics from University of Delhi South Campus. His research was mainly focussed on the design and modeling of photonic devices with an emphasis on silicon photonic integrated circuits (PICs). He developed expertise in modal analysis, analytical and numerical techniques, and a variety of optimization algorithms. He also worked with several photonic simulation tools including Ansys Lumerical, Photon Design and Synopsys RSoft.He was a recipient of the Shastri Student Research fellowship from Shastri Indo Canadian Institute and the INTACT fellowship under Erasmus Mundus programme by the European Union. These fellowships gave him the opportunity to work as a visiting student researcher for two short term projects with University of Ottawa, Canada, and University of London, U.K.
