Reach Out and Read is a non-profit organization that supports positive parent/caregiver-child interactions through early literacy promotion delivered via pediatric primary care.Systematically developed and implemented strategies that strengthen the Reach Out and Read (ROR) core model and Network of more than 50 local leaders and 33,000 clinicians and bring us to a position of leadership within early childhood development.• Next Chapter Strategy Worked with ROR leadership to maximize the potential of the pediatric primary care setting to support nurturing parent-child relationships. o Convened over 100 ROR leaders and influencers within early childhood development at a Forum in November 2019 to launch and help define the Next Chapter Strategy in November 2019.o The strategy is in the final stages of completion moving toward the fundraising phase. • Network Unity StrategyDeveloped a strategy to strengthen the ROR Network and improve program quality by 25% by 2025.o Put an annual network performance management process in place, including goal setting, technical assistance and professional development. o Established baseline metrics to assess program fidelity and network strength.• Research Strategy Created, and now implementing a research strategy that will provide further evidence for ROR impact. o Worked with academic researchers on a RCT to demonstrate the impact of amplification of the ROR model with an app. Project demonstrated improved language development with use of the app. o Led a cohort of ROR clinicians in a network-wide survey of ROR training in residency programs. • Project Management of Strategic InitiativesManaged implementation and evaluation of a variety of strategic initiatives, including:o $1.5 million-grant-funded early math enhancement to the ROR model. Rolled out the initiative through 5 affiliates, reaching 16 sites and 15,000 children. Wider scale rollout ongoing.

Reach Out and Read is an inspirational non-profit organization that gives children a foundation for success by incorporating books into pediatric care and encouraging families to read aloud together. As Director of Communications, I raised the profile of the organization through revision of the mission statement and messaging, extension of social media reach by 100%, update of the website to increase engagement by 20%, and creation of a suite of promotional materials. Intra-network connection and communications were improved through development of regular newsletters to all stakeholders, and introduction of new internal platforms for communication. As Director of Research Strategy, I used my experience in medical research to assess and recommend new and broader evaluation opportunities to establish the impact of the Reach Out and Read program and position the organization as a leader and expert in the early childhood development landscape.

Nurturing Minds is a fundraising organization supporting the construction and development of a school for vulnerable girls in Tanzania. As Executive Director, I worked with the board to develop awareness and support of this innovative non-profit venture such that annual income tripled to $1.9 million over three years:- Engaged and helped to develop a cohesive, working fundraising board, including management of the annual board meeting- Worked with the board to manage fundraising, including year-end and online appeals, events and foundation and corporation relationship building- Implemented a communications strategy that included design of a broad range of marketing and fundraising materials, creation and maintenance of a website, and development of a multi-platform social media strategy, including a blog.- Managed internal communications to inform and engage a diverse range of constituents, including board directors, advisors, volunteers and field workers- Created and managed the budget and financial processes
