When I was 11, I attended a funeral for my Great Grandfather. At the viewing, he did not look like himself. My first thought was "I think I could do better," and this is how I found my path to the Funeral Profession. After completing Mortuary School in 2013, I took a job as an intern Funeral Director and Embalmer at Evergreen Washelli Funeral Home in Seattle, Washington. I never thought I would describe this as my dream job, but it has turned out to be just that. I have worked my way through the years and positions here, from Assistant, to Removal technician, Crematory Operator, Funeral Director, Embalmer, and am now the Location Manager. My career becomes more rewarding each day, and although there are challenges, I am exceedling happy and love to continue to learn, and take on those challenges. With a few years of management under my belt, it is clear to me that this is what I need to do for the rest of my life. I am in love with helping the public through meaningful funerals, and with helping my staff by listening and working hard for them. I decided to pursue a Masters in Business Administration through Washington State University to help me continue this course. I feel my degree will continue to empower me as I move up the ranks within Service Corporation International. When I'm away from work and school, I am a wife of almost 10 years and mother to two adorable boys. They keep me busy, and on my toes, and I'd have it no other way. I have run 7 marathons in my life, a journey that helped me connect with myself and my body that I hold dear. I love to travel, am working to learn spanish, and enjoy a glass of dark red wine and a nice book when time allows.
