My role is to co-ordinate with all supply chains to promote Kier Construction. I offer a wide range of skills to engage with supply chains, universities, colleges and schools to up skill people to the industry requirements. My ambition is to respond to the demand of competency workers we need for our ever growing construction industry.

For The Prince’s Trust, mentoring is “The provision of personal support, assistance, encouragement and inspiration to young people during and following our programmes, particularly at a time of transition and typically over a sustained period of time.”Progression Mentors provide mentoring support to young people when they finish a Trust programme for a three to six-month period. It is to help them move into employment, training, education or volunteering and also make the most of the opportunities whilst in employment. It is about guidance and helping young people to find and translate information, understand problems, identify solutions and implement action plans.

The core responsibilities of this role are to co-ordinate, deliver and track the training and development activities to our company and our sub-contractors. My duties include, Producing reports for the business with the sustainability and progression of our supply chain, identifying training needs and producing learning materials and delivering courses to suit, finding, booking and preparation of suitable training venues, encouraging and coaching of those that are reluctant or unwilling to undertake training/qualifications, conducting a 'skills profile' with all new employees and sub-contractors being inducted and ensure that all are up to date on training, dealing with training requests and queries from staff, sourcing external training providers if needed.I also work closely with schools, colleges and sector skills councils to encourage young people into the sector, to provide professional development activities for teachers, tutors, lecturers and other professionals to assist with their CPD requirements, organising work experience placements, recruiting apprentices, organising site visits for schools, colleges and universities. I also work closely with The Prince's Trust on the 'Get into Construction Programme' which has been a huge success across Merseyside.
