I am currently a NOAA/UCAR Climate and Global Change Postdoctoral Fellow at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution as well as the Student Engagement Lead for the Marine and Coastal Science Program at Western Washington University. I completed my PhD in geology and environmental science at Iowa State University in March, 2020 and was subsequently a visiting assistant professor at Carleton College before moving to WHOI. My research interests lie in reconstructing late Holocene ocean and climate dynamics in order to better understand the natural variability of our climate system and to put the current changes into context. My current research focuses on reconstructing late Holocene climate and ocean variability in the northwestern North Atlantic using isotopes (d15N, d18O, 14C) in bivalve shells. More specifically, I have recently been focused on looking at compound specific nitrogen isotopes of amino acids to look at water source changes in the Gulf of Maine over the last several hundred years. I have experience working with an isotope ratio mass spectrometer with EA, gas bench and gas chromatograph peripherals. I also have experience working with a Flame Ionization Detector. I have presented at numerous national and international conferences and have several first author publications.I have taught multiple laboratories and classes at the University level, including as the instructor of record for GEOL 110 (Introduction to Geology) at Carleton College and GEOL 108 (Introduction to Oceanography) at Iowa State University.
