Founded Rocket Science Tutors (RST), an ALL VOLUNTEER 501C3 organization comprised of working engineers, retired engineers, UCI engineering graduate students and related technical professionals. RST has conducted an after school program getting middle & high school students excited about STEM by AUGMENTING classroom learning with hands-on examples guided by technical professionals since 2005. • Integrated Product Team (IPT) Lead for International Space Station Truss Utilities IPT lead responsible for flight harness and fluid line design, fabrication, test and installation for the space station truss assembly elements. This included managing engineering/manufacturing efforts across several sites in the US and abroad.• Design Lead on the “Unity” module of the International Space Station Led design effort for the Pressurized Elements (Node 1 and PMAs 1&2): the first US element of the space station which was successfully launched and deployed in December 1998. Integrated cross-functional technical teams (structural/electrical/fluids/strength) that supported manufacturing/test/payload integration efforts around-the-clock at multiple locations.• Chief Engineer for the Mast Mounted Sight (MMS) Directed the engineering and advanced design effort on MMS; a stabilized optical sighting system for the US Army OH-58D helicopter and adapted for Navy warships. Responsibilities included manufacturing support, sustaining engineering, product development, proposal generation and extensive customer interfacing. • Cognizant Electrical Engineer, DC-X vehicle Responsible for the design, fabrication, installation and test of flight and ground electrical systems on the DC-X; a reusable, vertical take-off/vertical landing experimental vehicle. Responsibilities included site power generation, interconnect cabling, instrumentation, and developing process/procedures for vehicle recovery and post-flight servicing. • Senior Manager, Productivity Center Established and managed the Wire Harness Productivity Center, a ”focused factory” approach integrating all functions (engineering, manufacturing, test, scheduling, administrative) required to produce and install wire harness assemblies on programs including Delta/Delta II, Titan IV, HEDI and the Payload Assist Module. Also served as cognizant design engineer for the USAF KC-10 tanker refueling system avionics.
