Currently, I am pursuing a master’s degree in biotechnology at Tennessee State University, College of Agricultural Sciences, under the guidance of my major advisor, Dr. Ali Taheri. Dr. Taheri's primary research interests lie in plant molecular genetics and breeding. He is working to improve Soybean crops. Building on my prior experience in nematology, I am actively engaged in a project that assesses the biocontrol potential of Oyster Mushroom (Pleurotus spp.) Mycelium against Soybean Cyst Nematodes (Heterodera glycines). Furthermore, I have had the opportunity to explore the use of Carbon dots and nanomaterials for gene delivery in soybean cotyledons and the leaves of various crops, including soybean, tomato, pepper, canola, and maize. We utilized biolistic bombardment methods for soybean embryo transformation, and I have become proficient in DNA extraction, PCR, and various molecular tools.In addition to my current projects, I am also involved in phenotyping of field soybean for root nodulation and conducting genome-wide association studies, expanding my knowledge in molecular genetics. My familiarity with statistical tools like R and Python, along with my optional coursework in Bioinformatics from the College of Engineering, adds to my skill set.
