Mechanical Designer
I was a mechanical designer for the Clamp and Robotics team at Niigon Machines; my main roles were to develop new robotic components for the next-generation designs or optimize older designs to reduce cost and material. Overall, my experience in machine design stemmed from the knowledge I gained from designing injection molding machines for various applications: PET, stack and cube designs, and duel injection. Other highlights included: • Certified in ASME Y14.5M-1994 standards (GD&T); implemented standards in over 100-part drawings to ensure proper machining and saving rework costs • Developed and utilized over 10 excel calculators to conduct several mechanical component analyses (Bearing life, fatigue, ball screw life, etc) • Utilized Servosoft and Gates software to optimize motor and driving belt selection for various machining movements while remaining within cost constraints of the projects• Optimized castings and other components through the use of Solidwork’s finite element analysis add-on; this led to cost and weight savings of over 10% for all projects • Assisted on several small design projects to eliminate problems in the field through creative and quick thinking; implemented those changes on future builds to prevent issues from arising • Troubleshot with mechanical assembly team during machine builds to reduce downtime
Vp Of Finance
Was the founding member for a student organization that promotes innovation and design thinking through workshops and competition called Designathon. Designathon is a weekend-long competition where students showcase their skills through, design CAD and 3D printing by solving an industry question over a 48 hour time period. In preparation for this event, the following are the main duties I had to perform: • Developed and implemented a preliminary $22,000 budget for 300 person event • Assisted communications team in acquiring sponsorship money for the club ($10,000 raised individually) • Spoke and negotiated with vendors to reduce costs for the Designathon event • Assisted other departments prior to and during Designathon to ensure all tasks were completed and issues were resolved immediately
Junior Process Engineering Student
• Assisted senior engineers with new prototype parts by ensuring dimensional assurance with 3D models, the process set up on all equipment, and proper internal documentation for all engineers• Interpreted and rendered internal technical drawings of 30 prototype parts for laser, plasma and CNC process set up • Developed "Lock-out Tag-out" placards, including diagrams and specifications, for all manufacturing machinery to meet Ontario Safety regulations• Designed and constructed several manufacturing fixtures for process improvement which led to an overall savings of $20,000
Industrial Engineering Student
Junior Industrial/Quality Engineering Student
Was responsible for handling various industrial engineering projects and assisted lead quality engineer in creating "First Piece Inspection" ( PPAP ) reports:• Initiated and managed a Quick Die Changeover project that led to a 22% decrease in time needed to conduct change over• Presented weekly management updates on various projects (Lubrication, Freight Cost and QDC) to ensure formal communication and awareness was presented to all members• Assisted the head quality engineer in creating FPI reports for a military project in timely manner to ensure critical deadlines were met • Approached and quickly resolved various quality concern issues to avoid further issues from occurring • Demonstrated initiative when developing reports outside of work, leading to many positive feedbacks from the upper management• Learnt all the processes and responsibilities of an industrial and quality engineer in a timely manner; preventing job time loss for other employees • Designed new safety floor plans for the plant that would create a safer environment for the other associates • Advised various upper management members on different issues that would occur from making certain decisions
