I have had 2 great opportunities during my professional career. The opportunity to work for IBM for the first 34 years of my career is something that was a dream come true. I had always wanted to work for IBM and when it became a reality I thought my goals has been achieved. Little did I know that it was just the beginning. The next 34 years were fast paced, never without change, and it gave me the opportunity to build my career, family and life. There is no question that the business, technology, and changes that took place cannot be measured on any scale. The personal growth and experiences where the best anyone could hope to achieve. IBM thrived on teamwork, leadership and respect for the individual and that is what sets it apart from any other company. I made lifelong friends there and the learning process never ended.When I retired, I assumed that I would go into the normal “retirement mode”! It did not happen.The attempt at retirement resulted in my 8-year role as an Adjunct Professor at New Jersey Institute of Technology – Martin Tuchman School of Management in Newark, NJ. It was my goal that all students should get a realistic for of the business world from day 1 at NJIT. My focus in the classroom was on imagination, leadership, innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship. I found this to be one of the most exciting things I have ever done. Over the brief time I have seen students move on to the Masters and PhD programs and to outstanding jobs in industry. You cannot express in words the feelings you get when see this progression. I realized that I had an obligation to share what I learned in my years at IBM with the next generation of business leaders.
