I also fulfilled the role as Personal Academic Tutor and I was an active member of the Race Equality Group.I am currently a guest lecturer and continue to teach these specialist areas to university students at undergraduate and postgraduate level.

Providing a social work service within a low secure hospital setting to a ward of male and female inpatients suffering with a mental health illness. Liaison with internal and external agencies including families, friends and carers and working as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Compiling social circumstances reports and presenting them at Mental Health Tribunals and Managers’ Panels. Producing timely and informative social work reports for the Care Programme Approach review meetings. To lead on child and adult safeguarding within a designated multi-professional team. Attending weekly ward round. Actively participating in clinical risk assessments and clinical discussions. Having a comprehensive knowledge of the mental health legislation, Care Programme Approach and the criminal justice system. Working with patients who may have unrealistic expectations. Frequent direct exposure to distressing situations such as disclosure of historical abuse, trauma, thoughts and attempts of self-harm/suicide.

I delivered the National Citizen Service programme to a group of young people; providing them with the opportunity to challenge themselves and learn new skills. Helping young people to discover their talents and realise their full potential whilst having fun. Enabling young people to step out of their comfort zone whilst undertaking a variety of outdoor activities and social action projects. I empowered team members to gain the skills which they do not master at school; real world skills that employers and universities recognise.
