Engineer Plans Officer
Assistant Brigade Engineer for 4th Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, Fort Lewis, WA. Staff engineer during deployment to Iraq, responsible for force protection of a 5,000-soldier unit and all counter-improvised explosive device (IED) patrols in a Massachusetts-sized area.• Planned and coordinated all counter-IED route clearances for Diayala Province, Iraq, balancing dozens of stakeholder priorities to coordinate 5 daily patrols clearing approximately 200 kilometers of routes.• Developed the systems that allowed the brigade to plan, track, and communicate counter-IED efforts, which was a major contributor in the 90% decrease in casualties due to roadside bombs.• Designed force protection measures to protect facilities from insurgent attacks, including bases housing over 10,000 American soldiers and Baghdad’s primary water treatment plant, resulting in no successful enemy attacks on facilities.
