I was born in Glasgow and raised in Scotland and North America. In my current role I am the British Heart Foundation Chair of Cardiology at the University of Edinburgh and a Consultant Interventional Cardiologist at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. On behalf of the University of Edinburgh, I lead the Edinburgh and South East Scotland City Region Deal’s Programme for Data Driven Innovation in Heath and Social Care. Our research group is based in the BHF Centre for Cardiovascular Science. We use linked regional and national healthcare data in Scotland to develop new approaches for the diagnosis and risk stratification of individuals with heart disease, and evaluate their impact on care and outcomes in our practice through clinical trials.
