I love finding great people, great ideas, and helping them win.An exciting example of people and ideas changing markets occurred during my time leading Digital Transformation for the Cranial and Spine business. The opportunity to develop the strategy, acquire a company, create a business unit, and scale a new SaaS business model was as unique as the amazing people and environment that made it possible. The beginning was painful - very painful. We failed almost daily, but were given the trust and empowerment to iterate our way to success. Today, Medtronic’s AiBLE platform has changed the market, is transforming cranial and spine surgery, and it’s only the beginning.To find the best people and ideas, you need to quickly assess situations, connect dots, and confidently move to action. Doing so requires intense curiosity, humility, self-awareness, and the ability to understand different perspectives to simplify the complex. This realization led me to:* Earn an Econ PhD while working full-time to gain technical skills in AI and value-based healthcare* Work in multiple functions including Sales, Marketing, Business Development, Product Development and Strategy* Understand end markets, collaborate with customers, cross-functional partners, and regulators to invent products and expand indications* Transition to Life Sciences after a career in Retail to align better with my passion* Bet big when it counts, leading to new minimally invasive procedures, monetized data platforms, integrated product portfolios, and breakthrough innovations* Strive every day to be great at listening to people who know what they’re talking about
