As a Presidential Management Fellow (PMF), I work to tell the story of FEMA's National Exercise Division (NED). Each year, NED supports numerous disaster preparedness exercises throughout the United States. These exercises save lives by preparing people to cope with both natural and human caused disasters. My strategic communications work ensures that stakeholders at the state, local, tribal, and territorial level know how to access the services provided by NED.

For my second six-month developmental assignment as a Presidential Management Fellow, I'm supporting the President's Emergency Plan for Adaptation and Resilience (PREPARE) as an Interagency Officer with USAID. PREPARE is a whole-of-government initiative to help whole-of-government initiative that brings together the diplomatic, development, and technical expertise of the United States to help more than half a billion people in developing countries adapt to and manage the impacts of climate change by 2030.

As an intern, I ensured that UNODA's leadership had the latest information regarding the activities of our principal Vienna based partners, including the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO), the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), and the UN Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA). In this role, I represented UNODA at various multilateral conferences and drafted reports on the conference proceedings. As the Vienna Office's only native English speaker, I edited all of the office's publicly published written work for substance, style, and grammar. My work helped ensure the successful launch of 2019 Scholarship for Peace and Security - a joint project between UNODA and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).

As a Board Member with WIIS Austria, I built and managed the WIIS Austria website to showcase the activities WIIS undertook to promote the role of women in international security. I coordinated closely with the WIIS Austria Organizing Board to ensure news and event announcements displayed on the website in a timely and effective manner. I also spearheaded efforts to launch a WIIS blog to highlight the experience of women working in the Austrian international security community.

AIT/K was the perfect posting for an intern. The small size of AIT/K allows interns to work with every section of the Branch Office. This allowed me to gain a broad appreciation for the work of American diplomats. Every day was different. On one occasion, I helped the political section conduct interviews in support of the State Department's annual "Trafficking in Persons Report." On another, I aided the commercial section by researching Taiwan's nuclear energy sector. I even acted in videos the public diplomacy section produced to help Taiwanese students learn English. These experiences taught me how diplomacy is a team effort. For my efforts, my colleagues appointed as a member of the Order of the Maritime Dragon for superb duty performance.

As an intern, I responded to constituent inquiries via phone and through writing. Throughout my internship, I drafted letters for the Senator addressing topics such as the accountability of federal agencies, congratulations letters, and the recovery of soldiers' remains. Additionally, I analyzed documents related to Military and Veterans Affairs and wrote summaries for superiors.
