I taught the laboratory course for Foundations of Biology and Scientific Inquiry I in the fall of 2021. There were four key objectives for this course: 1) help students develop an understanding of and be able to perform the scientific method 2) teach students how to design and perform experiments 3) explain how to objectively analyze data using statistics 4) promote students to think critically about data and demonstrate how to report findings in the format of a formal scientific paper.In the spring of 2022, I taught the laboratory component of the Biology of Human Concern class. The objectives of this course were to 1) understand the fundamentals of scientific thought and methodology 2) understand the cellular basis of life 3) understand the basics of human anatomy and physiology and 4) relate the above concepts to contemporary issues and problems concerning disease.
Course Teaching Assistant
I was a a teaching assistant for both the 2019 and 2021 iterations of the Cold Spring Harbor course "Drosophila Neurobiology: Genes, Circuits, and Behavior”. This is a laboratory/lecture course intended for researchers at all levels from beginning graduate students through established primary investigators who use Drosophila as an experimental system for nervous system investigation. This three-week course introduces students to a wide variety of topics and techniques, including the latest approaches for studying nervous system development, activity, and connectivity, as well as complex behaviors and disease models.
Peer Tutor
As a peer tutor, I work one-on-one with students to improve understanding of course content of multiple courses. I tutor in statistics, neuroscience, cellular biology, and psychology. This position is enhancing my communication skills and giving me useful experience in helping others learn and solve problems.
Research Assistant
