As a process analytics intern, I assisted in working in the QC lab and running quality tests on various samples of paints and resins. I was also responsible for collecting pH versus temperature data for many different samples of resins that PPG produces and then analyzing the data using regression analysis in Microsoft Excel. Using the data, I was able to build a model that could be used to predict what the pH of these resin samples would be at certain temperatures. I was also tasked with writing a SOP for the process so that it could be replicated after my internship had completed. Towards the of end of my internship, I was also tasked with learning how to use a gel permeation chromatography machine to determine molecular weight of different resin samples.
