Profile and Overview: WWCDN designed a global high-speed vendor agnostic content delivery network allowing multimedia collaboration for a virtual office environment, or distance learning applications.I was the architect of the IT and telecommunication design of the implementation, assisted in the creation of the business plan, hired and managed development staff, and directly assisted the principal in fund-raising. Profile and Overview: Streaming Media was a provider of high-quality streaming video content directly created in our development suites, or taken for one of the largest satellite reception installations in North America at the time.As Chief Architect, my design created a unique solution to providing an integrated Unicast / Multicast IP network utilizing existing protocols and internetwork hardware, and able to run across existing IP backbone providers. High speed video, with real-time / near real-time transcoding was provided to create the ultimate streaming experience. I utilized OC-48 transport and Cisco 6509 high speed / high density switching equipment as primary pieces of the design, totaling over US$5 million in direct purchasing authority and execution.

Profile and Overview: SITA / Equant is currently the largest single network on the planet (a presence in 220 countries). The network utilizes Nortel telephony switches, Cisco routers, and a wide variety of host and client operating systems, all encapsulated in TCP/IP. The VPN was over 1,000 routers in size, and was growing at 150 routers per month during my tenure. Total build out for this VPN was planned at 9,000 routers. I designed, installed, and operated the SLA performance and monitoring tool for our 2nd largest client. As technical expert, along with corporate legal staff, I was part of the negotiating team for the SLA between each multi-billion dollar company.

The main location’s LAN was designed with a high speed Ethernet based fully switched infrastructure, completely unheard of in 1995. The LAN was connected to a SHARP DS3 optical connection providing T1/FT1 data lines to remote offices and multiple T1 interconnections to LEC and interexchange carrier (IXC) voice networks. A 2.5 GHz spread spectrum wireless communications system was employed to connect to an off-site backup and records center.
