I have extensive experience in tech, judiciary, criminal justice, and mental health policy issues. I came to Capitol Services from the American Cancer Society where I initially held the position of Director of Government Relations and led successful lobbying efforts in Michigan and Indiana establishing patients' rights, genetic privacy, insurance coverage for cancer early-detection procedures, funding for prevention programs and state registries and free cancer screenings and treatment for women with no other form of health insurance. I was appointed Area Executive Director for the American Cancer Society Capital Area Service Center, where I directed program and policy development and directed more than 22 fundraising campaigns each year for two years. I was also enlisted in the United States Marine Corps for eight years, achieving an honorable discharge in 2000.
