This past summer I worked as a lifeguard and swim instructor at a local beach. This was my first summer working here but not as my first summer as a lifeguard as I worked at a local pool the summer before. To be successful at guarding the water, we, the lifeguards on duty, must work together as a team and pay very close attention to detail at all times. On a weekly basis we are required to participate in inservices where we practice various emergency scenarios such as drownings, spinal injuries, unconscious patrons, CPR required patrons, etc.- Assisted in multiple spinal injuries where back boarding and calling of 911 was needed- Trained by local dive team for deep dive searches in case of drowning/drowned patron- Guarded triathlons for racers safe participation- Taught children to enhance their swimming skills and to be more comfortable in the water
