Working as a Bureau Interviewer (BI) involves providing confidential support to clients, many of whom are vulnerable members of our community, with the aim of ascertaining their issue(s)/concern(s) and what services or aid they need.A BI investigates the options available using CAB resources, and the potential next steps for the client to take in order to seek a resolution. The BI considers and evaluates the options and potential consequences of taking these steps, discusses them with the client, and supports them in taking action where appropriate.

As a Property Consultant/Valuer for QV Waikato, I was fortunate to be involved in many different aspects of property valuation, from Rating, to Market Sales and Market Rent work, and National Asset assignments. It was a fast-paced, challenging environment, full of professional development opportunities for those willing to put in the work necessary to succeed.I was part of the Rating Valuation team and we were responsible for maintaining the District Valuation Rolls (DVR) of a number of Territorial Authorities (TA), including: Hamilton City Council; Hauraki District Council; Matamata-Piako District Council; Otorohanga District Council; Thames-Coromandel District Council; Waikato District Council; Waipa District Council and Waitomo District Council. This work included individual property inspections, data collection and entry, sales analysis, property valuation, report writing and clear communication with colleagues and clients.The largest team projects I worked on were the 2018 revaluations of the Waitomo District and Hamilton City. These required a collaborative, coordinated effort across the board, and I have much respect for everyone involved. The tasks included: individual property inspections; data collection and entry; sales inspections and analysis; mass indexing and valuation; report writing; undergoing audits by representatives of the Office of the Valuer General; and taking constructive feedback from senior staff and external stakeholders to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the DVR.

I completed a variety of tasks, including: property inspections; sales analysis; data collection and entry for the South Island rating revaluations; and Building Consent inspections in the Canterbury Region.

Charged with advocating for the improvement of education and welfare of Māori students at Lincoln University; fostering and strengthening Māori students Taha Māori; working closely with the Māori community on issues affecting Te Ao Māori; supporting the activities of Māori whānau groups on campus; and supporting the aims and objectives of Te Mana Akonga, while creating and maintaining effective partnerships with key stakeholders throughout all levels of Lincoln University, including advocacy positions on numerous University boards and councils.
