I am a research scientist and data analyst interested in using my scientific knowledge alongside my skills in statistical analysis and mapping with GIS technologies. I have 12 years of experience managing and analyzing large datasets for academic and private institutions using the R programming language, ArcGIS software, and Excel spreadsheets. Through this time, my expertise has grown to include utilization of GIS software in both my professional and personal life, project and database management, producing technical reports, and authoring scientific publications. My fascination with the natural world and love for being outdoors has led me to a career in the sciences, and having passion for being a steward of the environment has led me to my education in insect pest management. Through my studies and work experience, I have learned that it is on us to help to maintain and manage insect populations if we want to coexist with them. In my current role as a Research Entomologist, I devise and test traps that are safe for human use, but also effective at managing populations of urban, agricultural, and public health insect pests. It is my goal to continue to learn and grow, and also to be able to give back to the community and world through my research and work.
