Joined PWL when they had market share of 20%. Inside 6 years grew this to 50% as well as expanding into the Hawkes Bay region.Involved in all aspects of the compnay activities at the highest level.Sold to Sigma NZ Limited at which time Palmerston North also became the hub for Sigma Banner Group distribution through out New Zealand.Sigma sold out to Zuellig Pharma New Zealand February 2001 and we then later had a further name change to Pharmacy Retailing New Zealand Limited t/a ProPharma.Without going into all the detail we are now part of the EBOS Group, the third largest company on the NZSX by turnover.

Hamilton New Zealand

The company established a Central Distribution Centre serving two market coompanies and had operated for almost a year without professional management. The result was a service level that was unacceptable to the warehouse clients. My expertise had an immediate effect on the efficiency and morale within the warehouse. The efficiency enabled a third market company to be incorporated into the warehouse late 1995. Left this to return to Palmerston North and rekndle my love of the Pharmaceutical Industry and people.

Basically required short term to establish procedures to minimise stoc shrinkage. Organise stores layout to improve flow in and out.Once task was complete needed to find bigger challenges and remain in toch with Pharmaceutical Industry.

Palmerston North

This was the first branch outside Hamilton for Community Pharmacy Limited and it developed very quickly into a major player in the pharmaceutical supply market in the lower North Island. The region covered basically Taupo south including Gisborne and New Plymouth.Established Palmerston North, Wellington and Napier branches.Significant role in introducing technology to our warehouses via on-line computing in 1977 and to our customers via portable data entry devices in early 1980's. Involved a understanding new concepts and then teaching staff and customers on useage and benefits.Introduced practical application of systems to movement and control inventory enabling very accurate controls on inventory and costs. Attributes which significantly benefited Community Pharmacy Limited.Relocated several times at the request of the company and ultimately to Head Office responsible for all ten branches.Implmented the New Employment Contracts with all staff signing up without hesitation.As an executive member of the management team was directly involved and active contributor in the planning, implementing and monitoring of our company direction.Community Pharmacy Limited established several subsidairy companies and industry assocaited activities. I was directly involved in the development and implementation of our third party distribution company Community Distributors Limited, Amcal Chemist Marketing Program amd the selling of computer systems to pharmacy via Apothecary Computers Limited.Responsible for all premises, leases, rental reviews and vehicle fleet.

Palmerston North

Initially employed in the Surgical & Dental Department. Also responsible for importation of chemicals for Universities from May & Baker, Dagenham, England.Within a short period moved into Pharmaceuticals while maintaining S&D responsibilities.Became Assistant Manager by 1973.Developed first stock control system for KP and that was still in use when I left to join Pharmacy Wholesalers Waikato Limited in June1975.
