Noelle Jaipaul Email and Phone Number
My current work is focused in the policy development and implementation of anti-racism initiatives. My work and research interests include refugee/immigration issues, especially pertaining to racialization and global health. My workstyle and philosophy is based on the adage of 'nothing about us without us', and I value the wisdom, knowledge and experience of those communities that the public service is meant to support. I have experience with health education and awareness, both in Canada (Alberta and Ontario) and overseas (Kenya and Tanzania), primarily with HIV/AIDS and infectious disease. I have extensive experience working with vulnerable populations, and aim to create and maintain relationships that are therapeutic, culturally competent, and mindful of systemic and institutional barriers that vulnerable populations face. I am able to work in cross-cultural and intersectional environments with comfort, and strive to work within an anti-oppression framework in all my interactions. I hold a Master's in Public and International Affairs, and a Bachelor's degrees in both nursing and political science/international development. Another interest is the theory and practical application of human rights in different and challenging contexts, and finding ways to best address human rights issues and abuses. I am a trained human rights facilitator, and have recently been striving to learn more about human rights ethical philosophy and history. I am interested in the philosophy of social justice, and ways in which public policy is created either to promote social justice, or in spite of it. I am a believer in the power of community engagement, advocacy and activism. My hope is that my career path finds me at an organization that is dedicated to providing opportunities for social change at the grassroots level, as well as in the arenas of political decision-making.
