Head Librarian, DNNR

The Business Information Centre (BIC) serves a diverse client-base across Manulife Financial with a focus on meeting the needs of senior executives.In this position I provide research, analysis and timely access to information. I also help my team to provide advice on research strategies and to facilitate instruction on suitable research tools.

In my job as a GSLA, I provide reference services to students who visit our library. In addition to this, I am currently involved in several projects for the reference and technical services departments.

I shelve books, provide front-line service to patrons and work on a variety of collections-based projects in this position.As the technical services SLA, I process incoming materials, make repairs or changes to the labels of books as needed and assist the technical services librarians in their ongoing projects.

My 45 hour project was to evaluate and transfer relevant materials from the French Language Services department at the Royal Ontario Museum to the ROM Library. This involved taking an inventory of the materials owned by the department and determining whether or not they were appropriate fits for the ROM Library’s collection. Following this, the chosen materials were transferred into the library.
